The SR 54 / 56 roadway from Little Road to Meadow Pointe Blvd is 30 miles long. And that 30 miles is an explosion of activity. More than 14 Builders are building new, residential communities, four major apartment complexes are in the midst of construction and virtually every restaurant chain or franchise that has heard of

Pasco County Florida is building or opening on the corridor. And, of course, the center of all this activity is between The Premium Outlets and Cypress Creek Town Center and the Shops of Wiregrass. We are seeing upmarket car dealers arrive along with the largest ice rink facility in the Southeast and 110 retail shops in the Premium outlet alone.

Whew! It’s exhausting. We haven’t calculated how many restaurants are now locatedin this thirty mile stretch but we do know that there at least three (and maybe four) Dunkin’ Donuts. If we are looking at an example of regional health and growth and future promise—you can see it every day you drive the 54/56 corridor.

Norwegian Airlines

This low-cost carrier just appeared on the scene in the past year. We have a number of friends and relatives who have tried the airline and they say it’s great—at least the prices are. The caution they add is to be sure and bring your own food but that’s easy. They have fared as low as $250.00 each way from Tampa to London. And they fly to more than 150 destinations. Our niece flew from Virginia to Ireland for peanuts (which she wished she had brought with her). We checked and they are sold out at least two months ahead. Anyway—check it out. It might be pretty basic but the flight to England is only about eight hours and you can save a $1,000.

Property Tax in Pasco County:

When everything costs more money it's nice to know that the Pasco County Commission agreed to NOT increase our property tax rate in 2019. Of course, if the value of your property goes up you will pay more, but the increasing value is a good thing.

Cypress Creek Town Center

The 54/56/75 intersection will be getting busier. In addition to the new apartment complex under construction and the Burger King (both located in the northwest corner of 54/56), Cypress Creek Town Center will be adding more stores. Located across the road from the Premium Outlets the shopping center has signed At Home, Burlington Coat Factory, Earth Fare Grocery, Home Goods and Five Below. Of course, there will be at least six restaurants on the  North side of 56 to balance eight restaurants on the south side. On the restaurant count, I may be off because they are arriving at a very rapid rate. We are at no risk of starving.

Stay cool. I think it is getting hotter every summer. We are going to visit my mother in South Africa at the end of August.
